Classification, application and introduction of geogrates

Geogrids are the main geosynthetic materials. Compared with other geosynthetic materials, it has unique properties and functions. Geogrids are often used as reinforcement or composite reinforcement for reinforced soil structures. There are two types of geoglishes, fiberglass and polyester.

(1) Plastic geogrid

The geoglage is a rectangular or rectangular polymer net formed by stretching, which can be divided into unidirectional stretching and biaxial stretching according to the direction of stretching. It is perforated by extruded polymer plates (mainly polypropylene or HDPE), which are then directionally stretched under heating conditions. The uniaxial geoglery draws the “A” in Figure 1 only along the length of the plate, while the biaxial geoglery continues to stretch the unidirectional grille in a direction perpendicular to its length.

Because the polymer in the geogrid is made during the heating expansion process, the polymer will rearrange and Orient, strengthening the bond force between the molecular chains, so as to achieve the purpose of increasing strength. Its elongation is only 10% ~ 15% of the original plate. If carbon black and other anti-aging materials are added to the geogrid, it will have better acid resistance, alkaline resistance, corrosion resistance and aging resistance.

(2) glass fiber geogrid

This geoglass is made of high-strength fiberglass and is sometimes impregnated with self-adhesive pressure glue and an asphalt surface, so that the grille and asphalt pavement are tightly bonded together. Due to the increase in interlocking forces in the geogrid, the coefficient of friction between them increases significantly (up to 0.8 to 1). Due to the strong friction and biting force between the grid and the soil, the lifting force of the geogrid buried in the soil is greatly increased. Therefore, it is a good reinforcement material.

At the same time, geogrid is a flat material with light weight and certain flexibility. Easy to cut and connect on site. It can overlap, is easy to construct, and does not require special construction machinery and professional technicians.
